One of the first unwritten rules that you need to know and follow is don’t make the delivery riders wait too long. There are several ways you can do this but one of the most effective ones is to have the exact amount ready before they arrive at your doorstep.
Don’t be the person that only gets up and prepare the payment once the delivery rider is there. This is because sometimes you’ll forget where you placed your wallet and you’ll end up finding it all over the house which can take you minutes to do.
Trust us, it may seem like minutes but for the riders that are waiting outside in the blistering cold or the scorching heat, it’s a long time.
Be more compassionate
Although we don’t tolerate being late, we do believe in showing compassion. When the rider is only a couple of minutes late, try to be more compassionate and understand what they had to go through just to bring your food to the comfort of your home.
Some customers make it a point to scream and scold at the riders not knowing that they had to go through gruelling traffic.
Advise the phone operator that you’ll need change
If you don’t have the exact amount ready for your order, advise the phone operator that you’ll need change for your payment. For example, if your bill amounts to US$250 and your money is US$500, tell them that you’ll need change for a US$500. This lets both of you save time when the rider comes because they won’t have to take money from their own pockets to give you your change.
